These are full-grown adults at or above the size of our standard Large 1 inch grade, weighted toward big females that have finished their productive life in a breeding colony. Retired females are heavy-bodied and meaty, which makes them a substantial single feeder for a large animal. Because they are past breeding, we can offer them at a lower price than prime adults, and we pass that saving on as a bulk feeder deal.

Care and Setup

Care is short-term holding only, and shorter than usual given these are aging adults. The goal is simply to keep them alive and hydrated until you feed them off.

Temperature

Room temperature is fine for the short holding window these need. There is no reason to push heat, since you are not growing or breeding them.

Humidity

Moderate. A water gel cube or dish of water crystals keeps them hydrated. Avoid standing water.

Substrate

None needed. A smooth-walled bin with a few egg flats gives them somewhere to sit and hide.

Food

Offer a dry feed such as Supreme Feed Dubia and a little fresh produce while you hold them. Gut-loading still works on adults if you feed them well for a day before offering.

Ventilation

Use a vented or mesh lid. Large adults produce noticeable frass, so keep airflow steady even over a short holding period.

Calcium Dusting
