What is Hold For Pick Up?
This is a free special service, add this to your order when your temperatures are below 45 degrees or Higher than 85 degrees.
The selected mail carrier will hold your package until you come to pick it up.
It doesn’t matter if you are home or if the mailman hands you the package. Not holding can extend exposure time up to 10hrs or more. Trust our 25 years of shipping live animals and HOLD THE PACKAGE!
We still give customers the option to hold and reward customers that do with a better Live Arrival Guarantee
But what’s the benefit of Holding a Package?
Insects are exposed to the most Heat or Cold during neighborhood transit. Why? These trucks are not equipped with A/C or Heat, not even for the drivers. In the summertime temperatures are magnified in the cargo area. Temps of just 85 degrees can result in a delivery truck’s cargo are exceeding a deadly 100 degrees!
But don’t they have to be in a truck to get to me anyway?
Most packages get shipped by Plane and Large 18-wheelers to transit across states. The cargo area of these methods of transport is far advance to the neighborhood mail trucks. Keeping packages safe.
How do I know when to pick them up and where do I go?
Usually, they will call you. But not always so we recommend setting up text alert tracking. Your tracking will say available for pick up.
At FedEx Pick up from the front counter.
At USPS you can pick it up from the front counter. But a cool trick is to bypass the line and use their pick-up door.
FedEx: If you are ordering hold for pick up with FedEx you must include the FedEx location you would like it delivered to in the order notes.
*All “FedEx Ship Centers” accept live animals. However, some FedEx offices and FedEx drop-off/pick-up locations do not. In this event, please call them ahead of time to avoid complications.
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the pick-up location accepts live insects/animals. It is our assumption this has been confirmed by the customer prior to the order being placed.
USPS ORDERS: Your order will be shipped to your closest USPS Automatically. This will ensure that your order does not become damaged in these extremely cold or hot temperatures in the Carrier Company truck.
Follow Tracking history and pick-up when they arrive at the local post office for the selected carrier. We recommend setting up text notifications through the carries website to simplify the process.
The Postal office should call you on the number you have provided us at check-out. However, they may not call. Simply follow tracking and pick up when scanned in at your local office for the selected carrier.
Insects are live animals and just like shipping a Chameleon, the box temperatures must be kept within safe ranges for optimal health and safety of your insects. Taking these extra precautions ensures that you will have the best experience when shipping an order of live animals. Thank you!
