Phidippus regius Care Sheet
Enclosure
- Size: 10-12 gallon terrarium or larger
- Substrate: Coco coir or other lightweight, well-draining substrate
- Decor: Branches, leaves, cork bark, rocks, etc. to provide climbing and hiding places
- Water dish: Small dish with fresh water
Temperature
- Ideal temperature: 75-85°F (24-29°C)
- Avoid extreme temperatures
Humidity
- Jumping spiders do not have high humidity requirements
- Aim for 40-60% humidity
Lighting
- Jumping spiders do not need special lighting
- Natural sunlight is beneficial, but avoid placing the enclosure in direct sunlight
Feeding
- Feed your Phidippus regius 2-3 small insects per day
- Appropriate prey items include crickets, fruit flies, mealworms, and waxworms
- Avoid overfeeding, as this can lead to health problems
Supplements
- Once every few weeks, dust your Phidippus regius’ prey with a calcium and vitamin supplement
Handling
- Jumping spiders are generally docile and can be handled carefully
- However, it is important to avoid handling your Phidippus regius too often, as this can stress them out
